Overview

Cerro Turega is an epic trail with an intermediate/advanced difficulty level.

The panoramic views of the Pacific, the provinces of Coclé and Panamá Oeste are spectacular. The distance to travel is 6 km through the tropical forest that covers the hill. Before reaching the 3 peaks that make this place famous, we will pass steep and slippery terrain, which adds difficulty to this experience, making it an activity for lovers of challenges and adventure. For the more experienced hikers, the mountain has different trails that can lengthen and make the journey more difficult.

On the way back, we will pass by a waterfall, where we can enjoy some time to swim and cool off. Before returning to Valle de Anton, we will have a delicious Panamanian lunch, a perfect way to end this adventure.

Itinerary

We will meet at a meeting point in the Anton valley. We will take our vehicle to the start of the Cerro Turega trek. It will take about 15 minutes.

The hike to the top will take approximately 3 hours, on steep terrain and, at certain points, muddy. We will reach the top of the main peak, where we will be able to appreciate a spectacular view. The return will be a little faster, since it is downhill. Before reaching our initial starting point, we will stop at a waterfall to swim and enjoy a refreshing reward after the hike. Before returning to the valley, we will have a delicious Panamanian lunch.

General Information

Anton Valley is located inside the crater of a non-active volcano. It’s a popular destination for both locals and foreign tourists due to its proximity to Panama City.

The cool climate is a welcome change from the heat and humidity of the city, and on warm days there’s always a cool breeze. The crater is about 600 meters above sea level with mountains surrounding the town waiting for you to explore them.

Departing from Anton Valley there is a great variety of outdoor activities, mainly hiking, visits to waterfalls, rappelling and much more.

Physical condition 

The activities we offer require a certain physical condition. For each tour there is a difficulty scale as a guide. People with particular physical and health conditions must indicate it, it’s important that our guides are aware and prepared if one of the participants has a particular physical or health condition.

Some of our tours include lunch, please let us know in advance if any of the participants have a specific diet or if they have any type of food allergy. It is important to keep in mind that the meals we offer are prepared by locals and that depending on the destinations, the options of ingredients may be limited.
